Cristina Sánchez

Cristina Sánchez is a classics teacher from Spain. She works in Molina de Segura, a village from Murcia, in the southeast of Spain.
She teaches Latin, Classical Civilisation and, sometimes, Greek in the IES Canada de las Eras. She is head of the Latin and Greek Department.

Classical Civilisation is taught in ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education) to students who are  14 to 16 years old. Latin and Greek are
taught in Bachillerato to students from 16 to 18 years old. Neither Classical Civilisation nor Latin and Greek are compulsory subjects. Latin and Greek can only  be chosen by students who study Humanistics. Classics languages are only taught  for two years.

Cristina Sánchez gained a MA in Classics specialising in Lexicology from the Complutense University of Madrid and a PhD in Classics from the University of Murcia in 2000 specialising in Roman etymology (La etimología latina. Concepto  y métodos). Since then she has written some articles and a book for students about Ovid´s Metamorphoses.

In Murcia there is a Virtual Department of Latin and Greek run by the Consejería de Educación. It has been working for four years. Cristina is its Co-ordinator and uploads it.
She is also a member of the Murcia Section of Spanish Society of Classics Studies  and of AMUPROLAG, Latin and Greek teachers Asociation of Murcia.
