Batavere battle-mask from the 2nd century AD, Valkhof Museum Nijmegen, photo by Yvonnen Kuik This picture was taken during an excursion of 2nd grade latin and greek pupils to the Valkhof museum in the Dutch town of Nijmegen, that, incorrectly, claims to be the oldest settlement in Holland. Everybody in his right mind of course knows that this actually is Maastricht.
I have been teaching both Latin and Greek for four years now at the Bisschoppelijk College in Weert, Holland, and I thoroughly enjoy doing it. Although Latin is a very beautiful language, I have a strong preference for the Greek language, in all its different forms.
