Hello I am Veerle De Troyer. I studied
Classics in
Belgium (Leuven) and the UK (St Andrews) and for 6 six years I also was
a Classics teacher. My love for classics and concern for its future led me to start up the CIRCE project, the very first European project on ICT & Classics. I found partners all over Europe (IT, GR, UK, DK, FR) and together we created - a handbook (freely available in English, French, Dutch, Italian, Greek, German and Spanish) - a multilingual website www.circe.be with lesson plans, case studies and didactic materials - and a yearly in-service training course for Classics teachers from all over Europe. I work for the internationalisation department of Het GO! This is the umbrella organisation of the official education in the Dutch speaking part of Belgium (i.e. Flanders and Brussels). I work together with Jens Vermeersch and Katrien Lehouck. We support our schools who want to start with an international project and we co-ordinate bigger projects ourselves or we are a partner in such a project. These are some results of recent projects we co-ordinated: http://www.hereduc.net/ on heritage education http://www.odlexpert.net/ on introducing open and distance education in adult education http://www.circe.be/ on using ICT in teaching Latin and Greek |
